HOW MUCH DOES A “DISCOVERY” TOUR COST?

At Great Adventure Tours, we customize each tour to suit your group’s curriculum and specific areas of interest. Any requirement of your School Board, Academy, Principal or Parents are readily incorporated into your tour. Once we know your desired tour inclusions, we can propose the cost of your defined tour as based upon the number of paying participants planned.

HOW MANY PARTICIPANTS ARE NEEDED TO CREATE A TOUR?

The most cost effective way of structuring a tour is to fill or nearly fill a motorcoach; participant numbers of between 35–40 paying participants allow us to offer 2 or 3 Complimentary Chaperone Spaces for the group sponsors of tour. Tours with fewer participant numbers are also common with certain costs per person a bit higher to reflect fewer paying participant numbers.

WHAT ABOUT SECURITY AND NIGHT TIME “EYES” ON DUTY AT OUR HOTEL?

We know it is important to keep our student travelers comfortable, safe and secure on all of our roadtrip “adventures” and suggest that Tour Sponsors consider having Security on Duty for most of our overnight tours. A Security Guard on duty each evening specifically on our hotel floors and hallways offers parents, Principals, tour passenger and chaperones peace of mind (and a decent night’s sleep). This is an option that we offer to our clients at a nominal additional cost but proves well worth it in the long run! With or without security on duty, we specifically intersperse chaperone rooms & student rooms in all our hotel blocks for a sense of group togetherness and chaperone accessibility.

SHOULD MY TOUR INCLUDE MEALS?

As part of customizing your specific tour package to suit your tour group needs, a “Full,” “Partial” or “No” Meal Plan Option is available in addressing how best to facilitate your specific group needs: you know your students best and can determine whether “meal on own” at meal stops on tour or a pre-planned group menu will best suit there tastes. On all our tours we will plan meal stops in areas where there are plenty of cost effective options i.e., Pier 39 & Fisherman’s Wharf, Historic Cannery Row, Food Courts of malls and fast food stops as we travel.

HOW LONG IS A TYPICAL GREAT ADVENTURE “DISCOVERY” TOUR?

This is entirely up to you! We can customize dynamic single day “adventures” or create multi-day tours to suit your groups’ needs! Tour length, inclusions and destinations are determined by your desired budget and while we have specific suggestions in planning an itinerary you ultimately have the final say!

WHAT ABOUT DISTRICT “RED TAPE” THAT PREVENTS US FROM TRAVELING? HOW DO WE MANEUVER & WHAT CAN WE DO TO GET THE TRIP APPROVED?

We have some Teacher Organizers with specific “red tape” requirements put upon them by the “powers that be” which can leave them feeling overwhelmed & discouraged at the possibility of ever getting their student travel desires “off the ground” and “on the road.” That’s what we are here for…Our extensive experience in student travel (since 1969!) has brought most of these issues to the forefront at one time or another and our office is quite accustomed to jumping through “hoops” to assure board approval and get students on the road. We will most likely be able to suggest a course of action for your group as well and usher in a travel opportunity for your Academy this season!
